The Boticário Group Foundation has been working with marine conservation since the beginning of its history, developing initiatives and supporting projects across the entire Brazilian coast.
For our consistent work to protect ecosystems and biodiversity, the Foundation is recognized in Brazil as a representative of civil society for the Ocean Decade, declared by the UN for the period 2021 to 2030.

Our goal is to raise awareness that the ocean is integral to our lives and influences all of us, bringing it closer to the daily decisions of individuals across all sectors of society. This is the essence of spreading Ocean Culture.
Since 2019, aligned with the Ocean Decade, we have encouraged public engagement through Ocean Connection, an initiative designed to foster communication for and by diverse audiences about the importance of conserving marine and coastal environments. The platform operates through events, publications, campaigns, social media actions, notices for communicators, and training opportunities.

information
Here, you can access publications from Oceano sem Mistérios (Ocean with no mysteries), an initiative that aims to share information about the ocean in an accessible language, using engaging and shareable graphic resources. These materials help to communicate key data and promote awareness on the subject.
In 2021, in partnership with UNESCO, we launched the Environmental Communication Ocean Connection Call to encourage the production of high-quality journalistic content on ocean sustainability. This initiative invited press professionals from across Brazil to submit proposals for reports on ocean-related topics. Over four editions, 20 journalistic works were produced with the support provided through the call. Check out some of the supported works:
Did you know that the conservation and restoration of coastal and marine environments are considered Nature-Based Solutions (NBS)? Ecosystems like mangroves, coral reefs, restingas (coastal vegetation), and dunes are powerful natural defenses. They help reduce the force of waves and tides, combat coastal erosion, and serve as habitats and food sources for a significant portion of marine biodiversity.
With the rise in extreme weather events driven by climate change, these natural solutions are key to adapting coastal cities, where about 55% of the Brazilian population lives. Increasing coastal resilience is one of the focus areas of the Boticário Group Foundation.
